Dierenpret Houten
Dierenpret Houten was fun. For those who don’t know what it is, Dierenpret (translation: Animal Fun) is a animal event that takes place three times a year in either Houten, Zwolle or Utrecht in the Netherlands. Dierenpret is divided into four categories, Rodents, Cats, Ferrets, and Reptiles. Basically on such a event you can buy toys and other sort of things for your pets, look at all the cats, guinea pigs and hamsters that are participating in contests, get information about certain animals, and at the rodents and reptiles sections you could buy animals as well. This event is pretty popular among people at Dutch animal/pet message boards, so the event also serves as a sort of safe forum meeting place.
Anyway, I went there with my mother. We had to take a bus, a train, another train, and a taxi (which we shared with two nice girls that are active on the Dutch rat forum) to get in Houten, and once we were at the place were the event was held, we had to stand in line for at least an hour before we could finally buy our tickets and go inside. Once inside we went straight to the rodent-section cause I was meeting up with some people of the Dutch hamster forum. After that we just basically looked around everywhere and I bought some things as well. At the end of the day I went home with three new hamsters and four big bags filled with goods for my hamsters and ferrets.
Here is a picture of some of the stuff I've bought:

By the way, I’ve finished my pets page. You will also find my three new hamsters (Moon, Lucius, and Severus) there.

Some ferret love
Alyssa had two ferrets in her shelter which I’m now the proud owner of. In total I (well, my dad did the driving ;)) had to drive a little over fours hours to get at her place and back home but it was definitely worth it. The two ferrets are both male (neutered) and their names are Freddy and Smeagol. Freddy is two years old and Smeagol is four. Both are very lovely and sweet gentlemen. Especially Freddy is quite the charmer that loves to give big kisses. No mouth is save for him.
Yesterday I decided to put my other two ferrets with the new ones during play-time. There was a lot of butt-sniffing going round and then Freddy tried to get a little man-on-man action with Otto but Otto wouldn’t have any of that and threw Freddy off his back. After they cleared out that they were all in fact men and not women, they started playing together, which was very cute to see. They were dooking all over the place.
Two days ago I found my hamster Missy lying dead in her cage. I only had her for two months, maybe less, but she was already grown up when I bought her at the pet store so I think she died of old age. I didn’t see it coming though cause a few hours before she died she was still playing in her exercise wheel and all. Her dying is sad but nothing I can do about. I just hope that she wasn’t in pain when the moment was there.
Random note in between: just seven more days until the Bruce Springsteen concert! I managed to get tickets after all. Well my mom did. She is made of awesome. :D
